social work

"the little place with a big heart"

I have been Social Services Director at Garden of the Gods Care Center since June of 2005.  My top priority is helping to ensure that residents make a positive adjustment to life here.  People who move in to our home are often dealing with many losses, which may lead to a depressed mood and a poor sense of well-being.  My passion is offering psychosocial and spiritual support by encouraging the pursuit of purpose and hope regardless of circumstances.  We desire to provide the comforts of home so that residents are free to maintain their usual daily routine to the greatest extent possible.  It is my role to ensure that Resident Rights are understood and upheld.  These rights are supported by federal & state law and are reasonable expectations for every aspect of care, treatment, and life at a nursing facility.  Resident Rights are all about respect, dignity, privacy, and choice, which each individual deserves to the fullest.  As a social worker trained and experienced in gerontology over the past ten years, I consider it a special privilege to serve each resident and family who joins our community.  -Cris
